I still can't believe the twins are 7 months old.
Where has the time gone?
I'm here in the house every day LOOKING for time...
...time to spend in the bathroom, or time to sleep, or time to eat...I can never seem to find any extra.... :)
The twins are on a pretty good schedule. I honestly can't complain too much about that.
They are gooooood babies.
We are often complimented on how easy-going they are. We usually tell people it's because they're #3 and #4. 'Waiting your turn' is just part of the game around here. Patience is a must.
Although some days I seem to have trouble finding that here too...
Even at their tender young age, Tim and I are wondering if they aren't understanding exactly what they are doing to get that special attention -
Shepherd is always the 'last man standing'. He sleeps longer in the morning than anyone else, so he can usually stay up the latest. I'd say 99% of the time he is the last little man to get to bed in this house. I think he cherishes the late(r) night cuddle time he gets when all the others are in bed.
Thaddeus needs facial attention. He will cough and growl and make all kinds of noise until he gets someone's attention. It is nice that now he seems to be pleased enough with face-time from the bigger boys. Both Cale and Megersa love that he will smile and yell with glee when they stop to entertain him.
Friends have joked about how big they are. I hadn't noticed. My arm muscles have compensated nicely with the gradual weight gain...so it wasn't until we looked at the scales at the doctors office this past week to notice that WOW, they really are getting big!
Shepherd is 17.8 lbs
Thaddeus 17.14 lbs
They're on the scale for term babies. And in the 50th percentile, nonetheless!
I know Tim and I produce "healthy" boys...I just figured they'd always stay smaller because of their prematurity...but apparently not. :)
They're eating solid, pureed food about 2-3 times a day...and taking bottles about 4-5 times a day.
Honestly...HONESTLY...I feel like 75% of the day I'm feeding someone something.
Events to date:Shepherd rolled over from belly to back on my birthday - 7.31.11
Thad rolled over from belly to back two days later - 8.2.11
A few weeks later Thaddeus went from back to belly - 9.13.11
...we're still waiting for Shepherd to attempt it.
Neither can fully sit unaided, though Thaddeus is getting close and will most definitely accomplish it before Shepherd.
Shepper is just so content with life...it's like he's saying "What's the rush, Thad? There's always something in front of us that we can get in our mouths...and if not that...there's enough commotion going on to keep us entertained...Why move?...Where are we going?" :)
He does scoot around (on his back) while in his crib and on the floor...but usually he can just remain where he's put...and happy about it.
Wanna put me in the exersaucer? ...Okay.
Bumbo? ...That's fine.
Bouncer again? ...Alrighty.
Time in the high chair? ...Why not.
Under the floor gym? ...Okey-doke.
On your hip? ...Yes please.
Snuggling in your lap? ...Absolutely!!
It's interesting that Thad was so "quiet" in my womb...(in comparision to Shepherd anyway.) The Shep kicked me - all. day. long. Tim and I voiced concerned interest in the fact that Thaddeus was so mellow, barely kicked...just changed position.
Not so...not now.
He doesn't want to relax! If we dare try to put him in the boucer he protests unhappily. Too confined - as is the swing. He seems to enjoy the high chair for the time being. Perhaps he is cool with the stationary position of it because it associated with pureed goodness. :) That, or it's because it's a new scene. I think he's actually getting a little frustrated because he can't get around as fast as he'd like (or so it seems). He started "scooting" on his back - hard to describe, but we call it the "inchworm" - it's hilarious. He pushes off the floor with his feet and then arches his back and drags his head - all in one little motion...it honestly does look like a little inchworm. Cale gets tickled pink every time Thad is on the floor and starts up doing it... He still hates to be on his belly, so we think crawling will be aways off...... ;)
Like Mommy, Like Daddy:
Maybe it's the precious hours of those early months that Shepherd spent sleeping on my chest...or maybe it's because he sleeps in a crib next to me...but my little baby happened to pick up the habit I have of sleeping with a blanket over my head. Initially I was worried when I saw his head almost completely covered under his blanket, so I pulled it away...but that little guy knows what he likes. He grabbed that blanket and pulled it back over his face. So, when I go and check on him, I just check to make sure he can breathe, and then let him be.
"Never wake a sleeping baby."
Mr. Thad enjoys that big glowing screen we call a TV....doesn't really matter what's on. The latter is unlike his Daddy, but it's awefully cute to see them together "glued" to the screen watching football. It really is one of the only times Thaddeus is content to just sit and snuggle. :)
Well, I could go on and on...
But lets just end this love session with some pictures of their 6-7 month cuteness:
These 2 truely melt my heart.
